Manny PacquiaoIf everything falls into place, Manny Pacquiao might end up becoming not only as one of the shortest players to ever play hoops in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) but also as the oldest rookie.

Pacquiao, 35, had told The Bulletin a few days before he faced Tim Bradley in Las Vegas that he will suit up for Kia Motors in the PBA in October. In fact, he already has chosen a jersey number.

Last Saturday, Pacquiao notched his second straight victory on points since losing to Juan Manuel Marquez and there was concern that his power has diminished with age. Pacquiao is now 35 and has logged 62 fights in 19 years as a pro.

Pacquiao hasn’t scored an abbreviated triumph since halting Miguel Cotto in the 12th round in Las Vegas in 2009. His last five wins came via decisions, including the vengeful verdict over Timothy Bradley to recapture the WBO welterweight title.

Bradley, 30, entered the ring to face Pacquiao in their rematch without a blemish on his record. He left humbled, tasting his first-ever defeat in a fight whose outcome was up for grabs until Pacquiao took control for good in the sixth round.
