Fight fans inside the Pacific Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel were treated to two scintillating twelve round battles Saturday night. Jason “El Niño” Pagara held back the late surge of Aaron “La Hoya” Herrera of Mexico to retain the WBO International light welterweight title in the main event of Pinoy Pride 20: Laban kung Laban.
Pagara opened the festivities with a quick right but Herrera opened up in the latter half of the first round with his sharp jab and quick jab-straight combinations.

Barangay Ginebra is reportedly reviving talks to acquire GlobalPort’s Japeth Aguilar in a bid to improve its line-up following its finals defeat to Alaska in the recently concluded PBA Commissioner’s Cup. A source cited by Spin.ph’s Snow Badua said the Gin Kings are willing to get Aguilar if the former Ateneo standout gets released by the Batang Pier squad.

The ONE Fighting Championship's next fight card in Manila dubbed "Rise to Power" on May 31 at the MOA Arena will boast of not just two former Ultimate Fighting Championship veterans but three in Britsh-Iranian Kamal Shalorus.
Shalorus, 35, arrived earlier today or almost a week before his much-anticipated lightweight bout with Filipino hero Eduard Folayang whom the former hopes to defeat and make a big impact on his debut fight in the biggest and most popular fight organization in the Asia-Pacific region.

Alaska Milk super rookie Calvin Abueva has opted to push through with his long-planned injury treatment in China, thus dashing the chance to be with Smart Gilas in a training trip in Lithuania next month.
“Calvin himself made the decision. He decided he can’t forego undergoing treatment as soon as possible,” said Alaska team manager Dickie Bachmann.

The Philippine team, a four-man squad composed of former national youth team stalwarts Arvin Tolentino and Prince Rivero as well as second-generation players Kobe Paras and Thirdy Ravena, clinched the gold medal in the FIBA Asia 3×3 Under-18 Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Filipinos rattled off six straight wins, including a win over a much taller, unbeaten Chinese squad in the semifinals and a tight decision over India in the finals to win the championship.

Manny Pacquiao will have only a couple of fights left whatever the outcome of his fight against Brandon Rios, according to his boxing trainer Freddie Roach. Roach admitted that his prized ward is nearing retirement as the Filipino boxer gives more time to his political career.
“I hope he becomes president of the Philippines or something like that, you know that's his dream I'm sure,” the boxing trainer said in an interview with Fight Hub.tv.

Ring gladiators Jason “El Niño” Pagara and his Mexican challenger Aaron “La Hoya” Herrera made the 140-pound weight limit for their WBO international junior welterweight clash as the main event of Pinoy Pride XX.
According to Philboxing’s Rene Bonsubre, Pagara tipped the scales at 139 pounds, while Herrera weighed 139.5 pounds.
