Janet Lim NapolesThe alleged mastermind in the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam for which some influential politicians might spend the rest of their life behind bars wants to turn state witness and has pinned down three senators linked to the anomaly, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima revealed yesterday.

In a press briefing, De Lima said she met with Janet Lim-Napoles Monday night at the Ospital ng Makati and took a “tell-all” sworn statement from the detained businesswoman.

electric meterThe Supreme Court (SC) yesterday extended indefinitely the temporary restraining order (TRO) that stopped the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) from enforcing its December, 2013 rate increase of the P4.15 per kilowatt-hour.

The extended TRO also applies to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) which provisionally approved Meralco’s rate increase in an order dated December 9, 2013.

The NBI source said the names of the 19 senators — excluding Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. — were contained in the affidavit Napoles submitted to Justice Secretary Leila De Lima during their five-hour meeting Monday night.

The flight had carried the 45-year-old Filipino male nurse, who initially tested positive for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus (MERS-CoV), along with 414 other passengers, the DOH said. Two further tests done by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine later found him negative for the virus.
