DOH wants all Etihad EY 0424 passengers tested for MERS virus

body scanAll passengers of an Etihad flight that arrived in Manila on April 15 must immediately contact the Department of Health because it was the same carrier taken by a Filipino male nurse, who was diagnosed as having the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus, to fly back to the Philippines.

“To rule out the possibility that they may have been similarly exposed to the MCV [MERS coronavirus], the DOH is directing all those who traveled with this worker on Etihad Flight Number EY 0424 that arrived at the NAIA on 15 April, to call up DOH,” the department said in a press statement.

ferry koreaThe Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Thursday that two Filipinos were among the passengers rescued from a ferry that capsized off South Korea on Wednesday morning.

In a statement, the DFA said that both Filipinos, who were working on the vessel, were immediately brought to the hospital and are now in safe condition. "The two Filipinos who are working in the vessel are safe and have been brought to the hospital for treatment," the statement said.

cutudSome 20 people are expected to be crucified today, Good Friday, at four sites in Pampanga – Barangays San Juan, Sta. Lucia, and San Pedro Cutud, in this city, and Barangay Sto. Tomas in Angeles City.

Provincial officials and residents here are anticipating that some 60,000 local and foreign tourists and pilgrims will be visiting the four sites where penitents have had themselves crucified on Good Friday for years now in fulfillment of a vow.

The nurse, who was exposed to the Filipino paramedic who died from MERS last week in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), had been tested while he was there and the positive results came out upon his arrival in the country on Tuesday, Ona said.

In a statement released Wednesday, the Bureau of Customs announced that there will now be two lanes for incoming passengers, one for those who have "nothing to declare", and one for those who have with them goods that are subject to import duties or taxes.
